Greetings, First post. I'm trying to breath life back into an Image Prograf 8300 which has sat idle in a climate controlled room for a few months. It came out of a working environment and was functional when stored - or so I was told. I fired it up and got an error that the right print head needed to be replaced which I did with a genuine Canon print head. It then proceeded to load ink. I expected that I would get a low ink error, but instead I got this E161-403F error and a message to call for service. Being that it is the weekend I thought I would try a few things. I saw a post suggesting unplugging the until and waiting 15 minutes then plugging in again and trying it. That didn't work. I also unplugged the unit and held the power button down for 30 seconds to "clear the memory", another online suggestion. No luck. I carefully moved the print head to allow me to re-seat the print head which I did, but that didn't work. I thought about swapping the print head with another new print head in case it was bad, but I held off. These print head aren't cheap. I have not gotten this printer installed on a PC yet although I tried downloading all the driver files, but it would not install. I was thinking it might need a firmware update. I'm hoping someone smart here can help me otherwise I have a very expensive boat anchor. Cheers.

I ended up get a service tech to come out and he was able to clear that error code. I filled the ink tanks with 120cc of ink each and replaced the maintenance tray and the printer started filling ink into the system. Well it went through all that ink essentially draining into the maintenance tray and still wants more ink. I have ordered more and another two maintenance trays since the new one got filled up. I recognize there is some amount of start up filling required, but how much more should I expect? We all know that ink is expensive.
