I have just purchased the MF753 MF color laser printer, and have not yet received it. In preparation, i am asking which of the driver downloads should be installed prior to actually receiving it for a seamless installation. i saw on the download page there are about 6-8 different downloads. is there ONE master download that i can install prior to receiving the printer so it is ready for install? or do i need to run each of them individually?
Also, i am replacing a canon pixma 922. It came (probably with one of the downloads) a photoshop lite application to allow scanned images to me manipulated. Does Canon still offer this type of app for its scanned images, or do i need to go out and find a third party app?

Greetings,
The drivers you need will only take a minute or two to download. You can grab them when you are ready to install and connect the device. Both of my printers are connected wirelessly. I don't recommend the master setup because it includes some fluffy stuff you probably don't need like toner status, and the send function settings tool. The printer will tell you if it needs toner without a separate monitor running in the system tray. and if you want to configure scan to email, you do that in the remote UI.
As mreg mentions, nothing needs to be pre-installed. When you turn the printer on for the first time, It goes through a basic setup. It will ask if you want to enroll in the toner replenishment program, if you want to use a wireless connection, set the default paper type/drawer, and if you want to perform a color calibration. I loaded 8.5x11 paper in the drawer before I turned mine on. The entire set up takes 2-3 minutes.
If you plan to use a wireless connection. Be sure your network supports 2.4Ghz wireless that uses WPA2 / AES encryption. If you use a router that uses the same SSID name for all broadcasts 2.4/5/6/7G networks this can cause connection issues. Also if the router is set to WPA3 only. This can be changed to WPA3/WPA2 for backwards compatibility. If all bands use the same name, you can give each broadcast a unique name or just temporarily disable the other bands during connection, then re-enable.
Loading the paper before hand does 2 things. One the printer will detect what you have loaded and allow you to set it as default with the press of a button. Second, when you are prompted to perform the color calibration, it prints the calibration page. You then put it on the platen and press next. It takes an extra minute and ensures accurate color rendition.
The drivers that Windows will download, and install are not complete. Printing is fully supported. However you will not have scanning support. I just tested to confirm this.
For windows 11, I recommend the following.
[Windows 64bit] MF753Cdw/ MF751Cdw MFDrivers (Generic Plus UFR II / Generic FAX / ScanGear)
[Windows 32bit & 64bit] MF Scan Utility Ver.1.21.0.2
The first package is important because it gives you all the drivers you need + ScanGear. The MF Scan Utility is needed to Scan.
The UFRII print driver looks like this:
In order to get full scanning support you'll want the MF Scan Utility v1.21.02. That gives you this:
As well as the ability to configure default behaviors for the Printers LCD or Computer (notice the tabs)
ScanGear is a bonus.
If you need further assistance or have questions. We're happy to help. One last thing I recommend. Grab the Canon Print App from the App Store or Google Play (iOS or Android). Very handy. I use it almost daily. The Canon Print Business App is being deprecated, so the "Canon Print App" is taking its place.

My Image garden is an inkjet printer app.
You need the Windows 11 MASTER SETUP driver. You cannot run it until the printer is on your network.

Hey shadowsports, Canon would have many more happy Windows users if they included your excellent post in the box. 🙂

Thats very kind.
We have a good group of people here who enjoy sharing their knowledge and helping others. This is in addition to Canon Product Experts and the Moderators who all work very hard.

Everyone, I really appreciate all the advice given. I am supposed to receive my 753 sometime in the next 3 to 7 days, so am thoroughly grateful that you are available should i encounter issues. I had read that the installation procedure can be "taxing" to the more casual user and you have given me some really good points as to steps to avoid, and steps not to avoid. I agree with mreg, shadowsports gets a real shot out as to the time and effort put into this stream.

Indeed the My Image Garden App will not support a MF all in one. I'd uninstall it unless you still own a supported inkjet printer.
I've already provided reasons why I chose not to use the master set up. Its up to you. The printer has all the status / notifications you need.
This is worth reviewing:
