imageCLASS MF656Cdw - How to silently install MF Scan Utility?

Alliance_Willia

I am trying to get a MFC (ImageCLASS MF656Cdw) set up on multiple computers through Microsoft Intune.  I don't have availability to be able to install the software manually on each computer as needed, so I have scripts set up to install the printers.

With other devices I can do a silent install in the background so there isn't any user interaction - the fact that the install executables on here all require Admin access means I can't just have the files download and let users install as needed.

I can get the Printer driver installed using pnputil, I can also get the scanner driver installed, but I can't get the actual software needed to install.  I've tried using "/silent", "/s", "/quiet", and "/qn" arguments but they all bring up the normal UI for an interactive install.

I looked up some other information and found there are silent install instructions for ImageRunner, but not for the MF Scan utility.

Is there any way to do a silent or non-interactive install for the scan utility, or will I need to manually add it on every computer that needs it?

Greetings,

You've already tried all of the command line switches I would recommend.

Consider reaching out to Canon Support.  They can tell you if the program can be installed silently with a switch.  I do not believe it's documented anywhere.

I doubt a GPO would work since you can't get it to work on your own.  Let us know what you find out.

To silently install MF Scan Utility for imageCLASS MF656Cdw  use the installer with a command like:
setup.exe /S /v"/qn"
This runs the setup quietly without user interaction.
