imageCLASS MF232w new router communication issue, Wi-Fi light flashing

Spectrum/Charter recently sent me a new, super-duper router. I have connected it up, and everything seems working fine...EXCEPT that I now cannot use my Canon MF232w printer. The blue WiFi light on the printer keeps flashing. The router came with a new password, so I'm wondering if I need to enter this new password somewhere in the printer's settings. But where?!

Hi there. In response to both comments: I don't think you're ignorant at all—it's completely normal not to know about these things. I'm not judging you, and I'd be happy to help you out.

There are two possible reasons why you're seeing the PSK issue:

- The selected network is incorrect.
- The entered password is incorrect.

Make sure you've selected the correct network and double-check that the password has been entered correctly—paying attention to numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters, and even symbols.

Thank you, thank you! Question: where/how do I check "that the password has been entered correctly?"

Take a look at this KB article. It is specific to your MF232w printer. 😉

Again, thank you! I did find that same article a few days ago, and I worked through the steps (and did so again tonight). But I keep getting this message: "Could not connect. Check the PSK settings." And that's as far as I get.

Hi, Rick! I have worked through that article, and I'm still stumped here. My printer is still not connecting. I did find an option that says "Current Error Messages" and, when I click on it, I see "Check PSK Settings." I just cannot find where or how to do this. At this stage I'm wondering if I shouldn't just uninstall this printer and all it's software, and then reinstall the whole kit-'n-kaboodle from scratch?

I understand; let's try something—we'll perform a factory reset on the printer.
Press this sequence of buttons to access the service menu:

Press: Menu
Press the number keys: 2 8 (one after the other)
Press: Menu
This should allow you to access the service menu.

In that menu, select:
Copy
Function
Clear
All
Yes

Once finished, the printer should restart automatically or manually.
Check if this allows you to select the Wi-Fi network without any PSK issues.
