imageCLASS Drivers ARM Compatibility

With the upcoming release of Windows computers that are powered by new ARM chips/processors, the compatibility of drivers for imageCLASS and other Canon products comes to mind.

Some of these new computers look interesting, but if the Canon drivers won't work with these newer computers, then that is problematic.

So, I'll ask the $50k question. Are the drivers compatible? If not, will new drivers be introduced shortly to make the transition from x86 to ARM as seamless as possible? 🤔
If new drivers are required, how far back in the Canon office printer line will Canon go with rolling out the new drivers? 🤔

As I mentioned in a few posts, use Xerox universal arm64 driver, it can make ur Canon printer to run. Not perfect i.e. Colour and duplex setting need to do it in printer properties, change it in windows printing dialog won't work. Just this small problem but ur Canon printer will definitely work.

Using IPP driver is another solution, but I experienced problem in printing outcome, some pdf won't print the entire content, exactly the same portion will be missing. Not that easy to setup IPP too.

My Client who bought a Microsoft Surface have latest version show the screenshot.  There is problem ARM-based and lack Microsoft IPP driver is very slower response to Megatank GX7000 series printer.    Other Laptop is Intel i5 with x64 driver were no problem as quick responded a printing by WiFi network.

It's disappointed that Canon Driver on Windows 11 installation isn't work cause NOT support the system on Snapdragon processor.   I have test Windows 11 with i5 Core were no problem.

Please top priority top fix the ARM architecture for Canon all model driver for ARM

Good luck. I’ve been waiting almost 2 years with nothing being done. First we had to replace all Snapdragon computers.  Now we are replacing all Canon printers and will never use their products again.

I agree with Rick_Floyd. There is no indication that Canon will address this problem. HP has published a very helpful list of printers they indicate are definitively compatible. I am going through them one by one looking for the one that will meet my requirements. The link to their list is here https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/ish_6933917-6933962-16.

uniFLOW Online Virtual Printer App - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

I ran into this problem with a Surface Laptop 7 this week.  This above app is available through the MS store and is only available for Win11 24H2, but it works for ARM and x64.

Bonus: no agent!

The need to download an external app to an ARM based computer in order to interface with a printer is concerning enough to have me order the Intel version of the Surface Laptop when the time comes...even if it results in paying extra.

Speaking only for myself, the benefits of ARM just aren't enough to deal with driver incompatibilities. 😐

This has been my strategy as well. Thanks for the HP link. I have been looking for some from some other brands as well. I'm making some printer purchases at work this year, so I've been prepping for one that supports all hardware types. So far Cannon hasn't made the cut for any printers.
