On Microsoft's Universal print compatible device page, it shows printers that can be directly connected to Azure Universal print. I have noticed that the canon printers are not PIN compatible, meaning that you cannot set up PIN based secure release on azure for them. Despite this I know that Canon has its own secure print settings for printers.
If I set up secure print on a canon printer, connect it to universal print, and access it using universal print will Canon's secure print setting work?
The following is Microsoft's Universal print compatible device page:

Hello,
Any update on this?
We have quite a few imageRUNNER DX 47935KG and DX 617. We were able to set them all with Universal Print, however, the PIN does not work.
Thank you

Universal Print is a Microsoft service that allows users to print documents via the cloud. Certain Canon printers are compatible with this service, but not all models support the PIN feature required for secure printing.
The following Canon printer models are confirmed to have Universal Print PIN compatibility:
| Brand | Printer Model | PIN Compatibility | US Gov Cloud Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canon | imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX Series | Yes | GCC |
| Canon | imageRUNNER ADVANCE III Series | Yes | GCC |
Many Canon printers do not support the PIN feature for Universal Print. Here are some examples:
| Brand | Printer Model | PIN Compatibility | US Gov Cloud Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canon | C1533iF II | No | GCC |
| Canon | imagePRESS C165 | No | GCC |
| Canon | imageRUNNER 2224 | No | GCC |
| Canon | imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4525 | No | GCC |
When selecting a Canon printer for Universal Print, ensure to check if the specific model supports PIN functionality, especially if secure printing is a requirement for your organization.
To set up a universal PIN for the Canon imageRUNNER DX 47935KG and DX 617, access the management settings on the device, navigate to user management, and change the System Manager ID and PIN as needed. Ensure to remember the new PIN for future access.

It’s definitely frustrating when two 'security' features like Universal Print and PIN-based printing don't play nice together out of the box. Thanks for explaining the compatibility limits - it saves a lot of time troubleshooting a setup that just isn't supported yet.
