I'm getting a message Canon TR4700 could not be configured automatically when I'm trying to add my TR4720, It doesn't come up as a model option.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for joining the conversation, Highlander58!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which operating system is running on your computer (i.e. Windows or macOS, and which version thereof). That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

Sorry, meant to include it's a Chromebook. I tried to add manually but now get message "can't add printer. Check printer configuration"

As far as version goes, I'm not sure what exactly you would need. When I check settings it says version 141.0.7390.115. Sorry, I'm not that techie.

Hey there!

We were asking what specific version of macOS or Windows you're using. You let us know you're using a Chromebook, which means you aren't using a Mac or Windows computer - you answered the question perfectly!

What you'll want to do is go to this link: https://canon.us/TR4722Setup

On that page, there should be two options - Option A is to set the printer up for the first time, brand new out of the box - if you've already unboxed it and hooked it up, you can select Option B, connecting to a computer/smartphone.

It should automatically recognize you're on a Chromebook and tell you how to set up the printer:

Well I'm not sure what I did any differently today but it seems to have worked! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
