I am switching to TMobile 5G home internet. I have been on a Spectrum wifi connection. When I try to switch my printer to the new network, I see the new access point (in addition to several others my neighbors have) but it doesn't prompt me to enter the password. If I try to choose any other access (for example, other nearby connections) it does ask for password. How do I fix this? I can't access the wifi without the password, but it won't let me enter one. Please help! Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MX870 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!
You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.
Hope this helps!

@LisaSchoenb,
The printer is 8yrs old now. I noticed you mentioned that you have upgraded to a T-Mo 5G service. Is the wireless router dual band and does it support 2.4Ghz in addition to 5G? The MX870 has a 2.4Ghz radio and can only connect to 2.4Ghz broadcasts.
In order to reconfigure the printer, you would typically need to re-run the setup and configure the connection to the new device.

Thanks, the TMobile support team added a 2.4 option to my router, but when I try to add that access, it also skips the password step. I guess I will try to reset everything to factory settings and see if I can somehow force it to accept the new router. I just don't understand why it prompts for a password from other surrounding networks but not from my own. It is very weird.

One possible reason. This is sometimes the result if the new router is configured to use the same SSID name as the old device. It might also be related to the device's MAC address. In any event, re-running set up should allow you to reconfigure the saved wireless profile on the printer.
You can grab the latest drivers for your printer here:
