PDF's print gibberish on imageCLASS MF3010

Trying to set up MF3010 to work on Mac G1 with macOS Monterey.  I assumed that the drivers on the Cannon web site were the most reason but am doubting it now.  Word docs print fine but can't get PDF's to print without little boxes allover.

This is really a pain. Just purchased MF3010 VP for my Mac Studio macOS Ventura 13.0.1 PDF files print boxes. Why??
