imageCLASS MF229dw - trying to set up wireless printing

I have a imageCLASS MF229dw.  When I try to set up wireless printing, I choose my router. Then it asks for the encryption key.  The only info on the router is the MAC address and the password.  I have entered both several times and neither one connects. What should I be looking for?

Thanks for posting!

While our Forum Community members are welcome to chime in, the imageCLASS MF229dw has been retired. That means we do not offer support for the printer or updated drivers. We recommend updating to a more modern printer and reaching out to our Canon Upgrade Program specialist who will go over the best options for upgrading your printer. They can be reached at 866-443-8002.

That’s kind of crazy!  The printer is still being sold. You should be able to help me get it hooked up!

Greetings,

Arthur didn't say he wouldn't help you, he just wanted to point out that the printer is 11 yrs old and is no longer under support.  The printer requires a 2.4Ghz broadcast that supports WPA2 encryption.  Please ensure your wireless network meets these requirements.  You will need to know the network name (SSID name) and password for your wireless network.  The MAC address for your router is not needed for connection.

If you are using a multi-band router that uses the same SSID name for all broadcasts, you might want to try giving each network a unique name or temporarily disabling the 5, 6 or 7G broadcasts while making a connection, then re-enable them.  Many newer routers come preconfigured to use WPA3 encryption.  Please confirm your 2.4Ghz broadcast is using WPA2 or WPA3+WPA2 for backwards compatibility.

Thank you for your reply. When I get home I will work on the problem again.
