I've just installed a new Pixma G6020. I was slightly annoyed that the setup instructions didn't say how to configure the wifi from the front panel, as I never appreciate having to use an executable to set up a device - you never know what they might also be doing...
Well, imagine my surprise when I got to the wifi setup part of the app (windows 10, downloaded, not CD) when after selecting the same AP as my PC was connected to, it connected the printer to the wifi *without ever asking me for the password*!
There's only two ways it could have done that - either it found it somewhere on my Windows 10 (portable) PC, or they got it from one of the other two Canon printers I've previously configured to use this wifi network.
Either way, I'm not happy with someone - whether its Microsoft or Canon, someone has been keeping a copy of my wifi password and the Canon app has been able to get at it, in plain text!
Would Canon please explain how they did this trick... and if I change the password on my network and have to re-enter it for the printer somehow, will it be stored again???
