Hello Everybody

The Windows 11 Drivers for Canon i-SENSYS MF237w is not working. When I get the option to detect network printer it doenst pick up Printer. I can ping printer and install manually. I can access printer web interface. The problem is I need to run the Canon driver software to install the scan software as well. If I try to install scan software I get a error.

I called Canon South Africa to help resolve problem. Here is what they did

Reset printer, change IP Address. Uninstalled the drivers completely from the laptop, did the new installation and used the new IP address. Resolved

Greetings,

Someone else reported a workaround for this in a similar situation.  He assigned a static IP for his printer on the network and then used the specify IP address which allowed him to add the printer and install the software successfully under Windows 11.

Hello,

For the past 3–4 days, I have been troubleshooting the scanning functionality of the Canon MF237w on 6–7 different computers.

Eventually, I found my own solution.

Instead of installing MF230SeriesMFDriverV5202WPEN, I installed MF230SeriesMFDriverV520WPEN.exe, and everything started working correctly.

Download link for MF230SeriesMFDriverV520WPEN.exe:
https://asia.canon/en/support/0100772501?model=1418C031

Below are the troubleshooting steps I tried before finding the solution.

I tested the solutions mentioned in the following Canon Community and Microsoft forum posts:

https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Software-Networking/Canon-i-SENSYS-MF237w-Windows-11-Driv...

https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Software-Networking/ScanGear-MF-Code-155-0-0-when-trying-...

https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Software-Networking/Fix-For-MF-Scan-Utility-Failures-Wind...

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/3922755/problem-with-canon-mf-scan-utility-print...

Unfortunately, none of the following methods resolved the issue:

  • Manually installing the driver using the INF files included in Canon_MF230SeriesMFDriverV5202WPEN.exe (specifically: intdrv/SCAN/uk_eng/x64/Driver/MF555SCN.inf).
  • Performing a standard installation using the installer.
  • Forcing a manual driver update through Device Manager when two Imaging devices appeared.
  • Adding C:\Windows\twain_32\MF230 to the system PATH environment variable.
  • Finally, we attempted to update the printer firmware using win-mf240-230-d570-fw-v2211--FW.exe, but the firmware update failed.
