Can't scan from Pixma to Mac

Incipia

Hi,

I have an ongoing problem with scanning from my Canon Pixma to my Mac Airbook. The printer scans, but the image is not made available on the computer - Image Capture says that 'no device is connected'.

Having done some internet research, I see that this may be a driver problem. I've followed advice and installed various drivers, bypassing Apple's gatekeeping systems to do so, but it makes no difference.

I've consulted Apple several times on this but they are unable to help. The latest advice - to uninstall the printer and re-install has had no effect, although I did notice that there was an option to select a particular driver, which I didn't do, not knowing which one to select.

Any thoughts please? It seems daft to have two of the highest-spec bits of kit available, but not be able to do something so basic.

I believe Image Capture is for cameras.

If you go to System Preferences>Printers and Scanners there should be a button for scanner.

Which printer are you using?
