Can't connect new PIXMA iP8720 via USB or Wi-Fi

To start off with......I'm not very computer savy and for the life of me, I can't connect my new printer for both a wireless connection or USB connection.  I have spent an entire day trying to connect either way and am to the point of frustration, as I figured just connecting via USB would be the easiest way.

Can't figure out my Network Key, or some hidden "Admin Password" set on the printer (I've tried using the Serial Number" which doesn't work either and when trying to connect WiFi, I get the yellow light of death and error's out when trying to connect.

All I want to do is easily hook my printer up to use.

Also, on the bottom of my modem, the only thing listed is the serial number, there is no Network Key or other information listed on the modem

Hope someone can help!

Thanks in advance

Ben

I have a new IP8720 also. I installed using a USB/Printer cable. It is less trouble prone than a WIFI connection. The wired installation did not ask for any key. Wifi does, the network key is your wifi password. Use the cable, I have two canon printers neither is using wifi, but the printers are shared on my home network. I don't know how far you have gone installing your printer but start from here, if you have not done so download the  full driver software package from the link I posted. Install it and connect the printer by cable when prompted to do so. The package has a number of programs so be patient with it.

The printer makes all kind of chatter for sometime, when it first powers up and the cartridges are loaded, as you may have found out. Hope all the red lights are solid.
