Can't connect Mac to Canon MX510

Hi everyone,

My MX510 was previously connected to my MacBook but was consistently showing offline so I deleted it. Now I can't locate it at all - the search comes up blank when the printer is on. I tried to find the IP address in the menu but the IP address box was blank. Any advice on how to reconnect it?

Hi smac91,

Let's start by checking your printer's connection to the network.

  1. Make sure that the machine is turned on. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.

  2. Press the Menu button

  3.

  4. Select Setup    , then press the OK button.

  5.

  6. Select Device settings, then press the OK button.

  7.

  8. Use the UPDOWN button to select LAN settings, then press the OK button.

  9.

  10. Use the UPDOWN button to select Confirm LAN settings, then press the OK button.

  11.

  12. Use the UPDOWN button to select Print LAN details, then press the OK button to confirm the selection.

  13. Use the UPDOWN button to select Yes, then press the OK button to start printing.

The machine starts printing the network setting information.

Much of the information will not be relevant, but the important things to look at are:

  1. Is the connection active or inactive?

  2. Does the SSID (network name) match the one the computer uses?

  3. What is the signal strength?

  4. What is the IPv4 IP address?

I look forward to your reply.
