do ALL canon point and shoots still only allow 4:3 on several of the mode dial settings?

I just got a SX710HS cos I needed a replacement for my ancient casio EX-V8, which strangely took excellent pics! but ONLY in 4:3.

the 710 ONLY takes 4:3 on several settings on the Mode dial.

do all canon point and shoots have this problem?

(I was told it is because computer monitors are 4:3!)

I wanted a small camera with the P,TV Av,M etc like my casio.

You are not limited to only a 4:3 ratio for still images. From the owner's manual page 48, you press the func/set button and scroll down to the 4:3 and change as desired:

The different aspect ratios are not available in Auto mode or video mode. I hope this helps you.

I know how to change settings to 16:9

what you did not know is that some settings like "LIVE" etc are ONLY 4:3
