Why don't my 67mm filters fit on my SX50 lens? The manual says they should.

Even though the SX line of PowerShots use 67mm filters, the threads do not match, so an adapter is still required.

My error !  I had over-simplified my original reply.

When I first got my SX40, I had a circular polarizor and a UV filter from another camera that looked like they would screw into the end of the SX40's lens tube, so I tried very gently, but the threads did not quite "match".  I finally realized that those were not threads in the SX40's lens tube, but rather just a set of ridges that the lens cap's ears snap into.  That is when I discovered that you need the FA-DC67A adapter to fit 67mm filters to the SX30/40/50's lens tubes, otherwise there really are no threads to screw anything into.  So my original comment about threads applied to my existing filters - not the 67mm filters.  I have yet to order the new filters or the adapter.

Yes, I finally found (in very small print at the bottom) that I would need an adapter.  I thought, "Well, that's okay - but now my lens cap doesn't fit."  So now I have TWO caps:  One when I'm "just shooting" with no filters, and another one to put on the camera when I have the polarizing filter (or any other filter) on the lens.  It's not the best system (IMHO), but I'm not sure what else to do.
