The term S-series covers a wide range of cameras, from pure s to sx. Do you have a particulary group in mind?

I fear that this line is likely to be in jeopardy from the erosion of the lower end of the market from high-end cell phones, using computational photography tools.

Oh yes indeed. Maybe some trickle-down from the R3, purportedly the "now" flagship? But yes, a BIGGER sensor and Mr Canon sort out the buttons - plah-ees! - Oh yeah, LANC connectivity for Video, yah know, the very basics like START, STOP, ZOOM, and maybe CLICK!
