My trusty Canon SX130 snapshot compact has suddenly decided not to hold the date and time in memory even between a short short 'off' and then 'on' again.
Every time I power it up now it goes straight to the time and date function which is always blank.
I set the date and time (again), set 'OK', take a few shots, power off then power on again to find that I'm again shown the date and time function is all zeros.
All my recent shots now have an EXIF date/time of 1980:01:01 00:08:02
I'd appreciate any help with this.
Thanks,
Terentius.

Sounds like there is an internal keep-alive battery that has failed. I doubt that it is user serviceable, you will have to call Canon.

I emailed Canon and they kindly replied with the solution.
The time/date memory is from a CR1220 coin type battery in a drawer on the left hand side of the camera shown on page 152 of the SX130IS user manual.
Oh my, I had the manual in front of me.
Dufus syndrome and maybe a touch of senility is my only excuse.
Thanks again and regards,
Terentius.
