PowerShot D20 taking underwater pics & now have moisture - why?

The only PowerShot models intended for underwater use are the D series (e.g. the D20 or D10) and those are waterproof for shallow depths such as swimming pools or snorkeling -- but not deeper depths such as scuba diving. 

Canon does make underwater enclosures for MANY PowerShot models.  These enclosures are generally safe for any recreational scuba diving depth (e.g. 30-40 meters or 100-140 feet) provided you follow the appropriate care when using the enclosure (this is one product where you definitely want to know and follow the instructions... it's very important that you don't allow anything to compromise the seal.)

Been a while since this post, but I don't see anything in the history. I have a Powershot D20 out of warranty. We took on vacation last month on a scuba trip and when we went to look at the photos, there was water in the cavity that holds the battery and the pictures were foggy and we think there was water that got into the screen casing. Common sense tells me that the camera may be garbage at this point, but I thought that I would put it out there and see if anyone else has had this bad luck.

Even with the best of care, I would not expect a camera that is nearly 14 years old to remain waterproof.  Water damage is rarely something that can be recovered from .  Salt water is the worst.  Your camera is likely done for.
