"LENS ERROR - WILL SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY. RESTART CAMERA"
My camera's serial # falls outside of Canon's Affected Product Advisory.
For those users that also had to return their cameras to have Canon repair the Lens Error,
what were you told was the cause of the error.
What were you charged to fix the problem?
Has the lens error returned after the fix was applied?

Depending on how handy you are the whole lens assemblies can be bought for less that $20 shipped on auction sites. You can buy a working S100 for around $100 or less there too. I know becuae I've bought one to have a good small camera to carry around. As a precaution I did get the Square Trade warranty offered when I bougth the camera since I know the history of that model.
Any Canon service will be around $130 is my guess since they were offering the S100 refurbs a while back for about $139 I think. They might offer you a refurb instead
