Change in plastic casing for Powershot SX70 HS?

Did Canon recently changed the plastic material used for their camera body, and if so, was that done to reduce manufacturing costs or if it is in some way "better" than the previous plastic? I bought a Powershot SX70 HS in September 2024 and a second one of the same model in December 2024. The plastic body of the December camera feels different, and I must say, cheaper. However, I can't compare the two plastics because I gave the September camera to someone in Madagascar.  I'd like to know what went on behind the scenes. Thank you!

Greetings,

There have not been any material or manufacturing changes I am aware of in the short time between your purchases.

Where did you buy these cameras from?  Were they purchased from Canon or an Authorized Reseller?  It important to know (confirm) the seller is an authorized dealer.

I purchased both cameras from B&H Photo, and I'm quite sure they are an authorized dealer.

In addition to the plastic casing, the screen menus for changing preferences within each of the shooting modes (P, TV, AV, etc) are a little different. How can this be, when both cameras are the same model? In fact, I used the links from my September order to set up the December order, to make sure I got the same camera and extra battery. I know I'm not imagining these changes because I used my September camera every day between Oct 14-Nov 9th while on a birding tour, so I was very familiar with the menu options and the feel of the plastic. The new one is definitely different. I hope the lens quality is the same.
