I have a hand-me-down PowerShot A3300 IS A camera. I love it so much and used it all the time. Unfortunately, about a year ago, the lens stopped opening and gave me a weird message on the screen (that i cant remember.)
I charged the battery and replaced it before trying again, then also accidentally pulled off the plastic covering surrounding the lens. That was my attempt to get the lens to open.
So, not only do I need the plastic bit to be put back on, but I also need help getting the lens to open.
Can anybody help? Are there places I can send my camera to? I am too emotionally attached to get a new one. It was perfect. The fish-eye lens option was one of my favorite parts! I cant give it up.

You could try Midwest Camera Repair and see what they say.

Thank you! Unfortunately their website says they only service non IS cameras, and according to "canon camera museum" my camera is IS. Im not sure what that means and im going to email them anyways to see if they have any suggestions. I also looked at the canon repair in NJ, but they didnt have my type of camera as an option listed for repair 😞 Anything else you can think of? I appreciate any help

IS stands for image stabilization. Sorry, I don't have any other recommendations.

Hi and welcome to the forum:
The PowerShot A3300 was released 12 years ago and has been retired for some time. As such, it is very unlikely that it will, or even can be serviced, as service companies don't find it viable to keep spare parts for older units.
If I am correct, I suggest checking out refurbished cameras from Canon - these have been serviced and checked by Canon and come with a warranty, but are reduced in price from a new unit. Here is a link to that group:

If you are really set on this model, Amazon has a new one available, but it seems a little expensive for an older model. Ebay has some used ones also.

I would not get this from Amazon. Note the "ships from" and "sold by" is "Acute Tek". Very misleading since the main heading under the item's title has a link to "Visit the Canon Store".

Canon certainly won't repair this camera.
I'd be suspicious of a 12-year-old point & shoot being sold as New on Amazon by this seller. For that amount of money, or what a repair service would want (if any could/would touch it), or far less, you could replace the camera from the legitimate used dealers out there, with something even newer and better.

We can all get attached to equipment, but at some point, it's time to move on. I'm sure you'll be able to find a new camera that you'll end up enjoying just as much.
