[PowerShot G9 X Mark II] How to tell camera where to focus?

Winfried

Hello,

I have a PowerShot G9 X Mark II and don't know much about photography.

I missed another close shot where the camera focused at the wrong location.

The documentation says to click on the "Q Set" button and select an item (looks like a mountain) in the menu that's not listed on my screen, and I can't find how to display it.

Any idea?

Thank you.

The camera can only focus within a certain range when in macro mode. How close was the desired object?

Did you tap the focus square to see if focusing would activate?

Without knowing what I'm doing, I dialed the button at the top to check the other options, and the mountain/flower icons are displayed in the other modes (P, T, A, M, C). It looks like changing the foscus is not available in Auto mode.

What would be the simplest way to set the focus location right the next time without messing things?

It was within that range of 5-50cm.

I didn't know I could tap on the screen to tell the camera where to focus.

I'll experiment with the focus square in Auto mode, and the macro option in P mode.

Thank you.

Do you have the owner guides/manuals for your camera? If you do, you NEED to start reading. If you don't, you NEED to download them from Canon.

You sound like you are totally lost as to how to use the camera.

Yes, I have the PDF, no I don't care much about photography: I just wanted to take a picture that wouldn't be off-focus.
