Hello,
A couple years ago my Canon Powershot S95 camera was dropped. Since then I've had issues with taking photos, but it has gotten progressively worse. I used to be able to wiggle the lens a little to get the camera to work, but now all of my photos are purple. I can still take photos, this photo attached to the post is from the SD card. The LCD screen also displays this purple haze, and seems to be functioning fine as I can still navigate menus. The lens also goes in and out just fine from what I can tell. My question is, what exactly is broken here? Is it the lens? or is it the sensor itself? I'm hopeful I might be able to fix it but I'm not sure if it would be worth attempting to open the camera or not. Thank you so much for your help!!

okay, well I am happy to report that I did find a solution! I spent a long time internet searching and determined that it was likely the sensor that was the issue. I watched a video taking apart the camera and determined that while it was possible I could do it, I could also break the camera more, so I didn't consider myself quite talented enough to try. So I paid a camera repair person to put a sensor in from an old S95. It works again!! I'm quite pleased with the result as I spent $100 to repair the camera and now have my sentimental camera back in business. Here is a pic of my trusty S95 taken with my Canon G7X MkII.
I hope this helps someone out there who's also having this kind of trouble. Thanks!

You are darned lucky to find someone who had a donor camera and was able to do the surgery.
Congratulations!

These things are incredibly complicated pieces of engineering. Opening it up thinking you can fix it is dreaming. You dropped it, it broke, say farewell and get another camera.

To agree with my colleague - these are not things that one can work on without specific tools because of their precision. Your camera is quite old and no longer supported for service. Your best bet is to look to upgrade to a newer camera - maybe an insurance claim?
