Cannot upload photos from SD1000 to macOS 13.2.1

We had an older (12 year old plus) mac and have upgraded to a newer model that has macOS 13.2.1 with an M1 chip. Unfortunately the mac will not load the SD1000 software - apparently the software is for a 32 bit mac and our new mac is 64 bit. What do we do now? How do we get the pictures from the SD1000 to the mac?

Hi parn,

Thanks for posting!

While our Forum Community members are welcome to chime in, the PowerShot ELPH SD1000 has been retired. That means we do not offer support for the camera or have updated downloads. You're welcome to discuss retired Canon products, but please be aware that you will not receive support directly from Canon USA. If importing the images via the SD card isn't feasible, you may want to speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hi,

How do we import via the SD card. It sounds like a possibility.

If your Mac has a built in SD card reader, you could use that. If not, you can buy an external USB SD card reader, just be sure to get the correct USB type for your Mac (USB type A or C). I'm assuming you were connecting, using software, to your old Mac, so you may be able to plug it in with the correct USB cable (without software), strait to your Mac and it (Mac) will see it as an external drive.

This new mac does not have any internal SD card reader so I will get one. In a few days I will let you know what happens. I'm hopeful. Thank you.

Just wanted to let you know that using the SD card and reader we were able to get pictures off the PowerShot ELPH SD1000 onto the Mac.

It is wonderful - and so much easier and much faster than our previous method. Thank you for all your help.
