Can't get Canon repair for PowerShot G5 X

Trying to register my camera with Canon for the purpose of trying to get my G5 X repaired. I bought it used ... perhaps the prior owner registered the serial number? Anyway, it says the previous serial number was registered, and apparently not with me, so I can't register the camera, and thus can't inquire about a repair. Full stop. Anybody have any ideas?

You can use the link here: http://Canon.us/tt6f and click "Request Product Repair" from there you can fill out the Request Service form and follow the rest of the instructions. Nice try, but this only works if you have an account, and I can't create an account because Canon won't accept my serial number. Other ideas?

Give the Canon Virginia Service Center a call at 866-510-1335 and see if they can assist.
