vertical streak on copies does not occur on ADF nor print from computer.

Hi:

When I copy on my MX870, I get a vertical streak down middle of page. This only happens when I make photocopies from document that is placed directly on glass. This does NOT happen when I use the document feeder. It does NOT happen when I scan a document. It does NOT happen when I print from computer. It only happens when Icopy document that is on glass. Any ideas for resolving would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.

The lines on copies that you are experiencing is a result of the scan glass being dirty or scratched. The scan glass that the printer uses when scanning from the ADF is located to the left of the larger glass area (platen) when you open the cover. It is the smaller glass strip on the left hand side of the unit.

Spray some glass cleaner on a paper towel and then clean the smaller glass area. Once cleaned, try scanning from the ADF again.
