mf227dw Canon Printer Feeder

I have the mf227dw printer and have had it for a few years. For some peculiar reason I'm unable to open the top document feeder to access the platen glass when making copies. It appears as if it's jammed slightly. Does it have a release button? I'm pretty sure it opens from the front and swings back. I can access the Ink Cartridge under the feeder.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The hinge opens from the front and swings back and there is not a release button that you need to press to open the top. In this situation, it looks like there is something wrong with the hardware. In this situation, I would suggest contacting support at 1-800-652-2666 or checking your service options by logging into your Canon account.
