imageCLASS MF8580Cdw Unable to scan from printer


We have had this printer scanner (#MF8580Cdw) for a long time. The wonderful aspect of this device is the ability to stand at the device and press scan and select my user ID from the list and scan from bed or tray to my computer.  It works fine for other users, but for me when I press scan from the device the error "MF Toolbox that is supported by the scanner you...Install the appropriate...and try again" pops up. I have downloaded the MF Toolbox from Canon more than 5 times and performed at least 1 reboot per attempt.  If I get the error and I open the MF Toolbox and perform "Color Scan" it pops open an interface and I can scan fine.  I just cannot hit the button on the printer/scanner and have it work (start scanning and send file to my pre-selected destination).  I have uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted, reinstalled, rebooted (printer and computer) more times with absolutely no change in how the failure performs. This started happening after we lost internet about 2 months ago.  It wasn't lightning or anything like that, just an outage that Comcast fixed in the general area.  I can print without issue to the printer.  I can manually scan from my computer to the device and have the file get saved to my pre-selected destination.  Other office mates can press the scan while at the scanner and have it sent to their respective computers.



Hi!  Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The imageCLASS MF8580Cdw is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!
