I am trying to setup direct scanning to my mac and when i select the button it says that no "computer" can be found. It scans from the Canon software just not directly from the scanner to a folder I designated on my mac

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which version of macOS is running on your Mac and whether your printer talks to your Mac via Wi-Fi or a USB cable. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

I am using wireless connection on a Mac Sequoia 15 operating system. The software works when scanning from the computer, but the scan from the printer to the computer does not
