My Canon MultiVLASS MF743cdw is warning that I am low on toner but I checked the consumables and it shows 90% black and 40% color remaining. I understand the percentage will not be exact but 40% is hardly a percentage to show running low on toner. Q: Is there an adjustment to the settings so the printer interprets a much lower percentage of remaining toner as being low? Thanks.

Greetings,
I've not seen an MF series laser report low toner at 40% remaining, so my first question would be are you uasing Canon branded toner?
If yes, try removing the toner and holding horizontally, shake gently from side to side. You may want to do this outside as it can sometimes be messy. This can help redistribute the toner inside the cartridge evenly.

Hello RhondasCanon,
The warning message will come up depending on what is set for the toner percentage in the Display Timing for Cart Prep setting. You can adjust that setting using the steps in the link provided HERE.

I have basically the same question with LBP325dn and LBP1538C II printers. We just replaced 45 printers and the low toner warning on the printers is causing our users to "panic" a bit. Is this a setting than can be changed in the remote ui? I have programs that gather the data daily and tell me when toner is needed. I would like to reduce the "low toner" warning on the printers to be displayed at 20% or lower, rather than the current setting of 50%.

I found the preference to change this on the LBP325 printers. I changed the first setting to Custom and the second to 5%, I believe the default was 20%.
Unfortunately I am still looking for the same setting on the LBP1538C II printers. It looks like the default is indeed 40%, I have been seeing this for a few days now:
Ironically the error details show this:
My users all then submit helpdesk tickets telling me they need toner NOW! Even though we use FMAudit to order toner when it shows 20% and then place the new cartridge next to the printer when it arrives AND the actual % is at 2%.
