imageCLASS MF656Cdw 30-second process before printing, question on retaining settings

So, I have the Auto Image Adjust Regularly set to OFF, and the Auto Correct Print Color Mismatch set to When Turning Main Power On.

I never turn the machine off.  Sleep is set to 15 minutes.  I thought that meant that neither adjustment would be made until I do turn the power off, and then on again, in which case it would do a Correct Print Color Mismatch.

Yet, before the first print job of the day, or the first print job after it has been asleep for several hours, it goes through some type of process for maybe half a minute, then stops, then prints the job.

Does anyone know what it is doing?

Edit:  By the way, I don't really understand what correcting "after the first print job" means.  So if I don't turn off the printer for five years, it will do the correction the first time I printed after first turning the machine on and not do an auto correction again for five years?  Who writes these things?

Thanks.

I agree. I hate that the printer is constantly recalibrating. I use my printer for different size paper as well. and even though I have entered in the custom sizes or used from list, it calibrates and asks me to choose a size between each document. And even though it says it should hold 50 sheets in manual feeder, it does not, and it calibrates between EACH PAGE. 😢😒

Greetings,

We use our 656 almost daily. Mostly 8.5x11 and sometimes larger for spreadsheets.  I've seen a recalibrating message maybe once in the last 8-9 months.  I've had this printer since Feb. this year and the 644 since 11/2023.  Its never displayed a recalibrating message I am aware of.

The ADF in both models does indeed hold 50 sheets.  I use the manual feeder for an occasional envelope.

These are my Paper Source Auto Selection Settings

The printer will occasionally take a few seconds to warm up (first print of the day), but its under 30 sec.  I leave the printer on 24x7.  Default sleep 1 min.  I need a way to reproduce the issue.  Neither of my devices display these behaviors at all or with any regularity.  I use Canon toners.
