imageCLASS MF654Cdw- won't print envelopes

I just purchased the Canon MF654Cdw printer, and was looking forward to being able to print our Christmas card envelopes, but it will not pull the envelopes through the multi-use tray; I tried putting a few envelopes in Tray 1 and also did not work.  This is very frustrating.
