I have owned printers by HP, Brother, Epson, and Canon. Canon is my favorite, and I won’t buy any other printer. I also own several Canon cameras. However, getting support is often a pain in the a**. (PITA). I have been on hold with Canon now for almost. 20 minutes and all I hear is classical piano music.

Now I just hung up. I have more important things to do than to sit on my butt hoping SOMEONE employed by Canon will talk to me.

I bought a MF654Cdw last Saturday, March 1, and have a 14” wide piece of plastic that is not shown/mentioned in any documentation. Where does it go? What is it?

The numbers underneath the part are as follows:

FE8-3012           V1-2
>PC+ABS-FR(40)<

What the heck is it? Where does it go? Your technical documentation has no mention or drawing of this part.

So, since no one, obviously, has taken the time to answer my call, perhaps someone within the Canon organization can answer this question for me. It might be a real nice thing to do to include this part in the documenation to avoid anyone asking the same question.

Patiently awaiting your reply,

If you insert 11x14 paper into the main paper tray, the tray sticks out, and that part covers like a dust cover.  It's mentioned in the manual.

I only had the installation documents, not the manual. I recently downloaded the manual. The information you gave is not covered in the installation documentation. So, that is why I have this part that is not explained UNLESS you read the manual all the way through looking for an answer as to what this part is. Seems the technical writers might decide to include an explanation in the installation paperwork so no one else comes up w the same question. Thank you for your answer!

You are correct.  Their documentation will win no awards.  Even the manual, although huge, is not well organized, sends you from pillar to post, and is often less than helpful.
