imageCLASS MF272dw won't print via USB

Greetings - I recently relocated to Japan and purchased an MF272dw printer. I have it connected to a Macbook Air running OS 12.7.6 using a new USB cable. The printer shows up in preferences, and when I attempt to print a PDF it also shows up in Print. When I hit the print button nothing happens. WhenI check the printer in preferences it shows "in use, last used". Open Print Queue shows the file and "Printing - looking for printer" with a blue bar cycling back and forth. Needless to say this is frustrating. I've used many computer/printer combos and have never had this much difficulty.

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks

So far no response, so will try a different tack. Would anyone know the phone support number for Canon Japan?

Thanx

I would make sure your drivers are installed correctly. The fact you purchased it in Japan should not keep it from working, in my opinion. The website will sense your operating system so you can download Mac drivers.

Greetings,

For support in Japan, visit the Canon Global Support website.  Select Asia > Japan.

While MACs do support Airprint, the device support you get can be limited.  Its best to install the drivers for your product to get the most from your printer.

Drivers for your product can be found here:

Software Selection | Canon https://share.google/JQazNzpWFjogDKss9

I'd start over. Disconnect the USB cable.  Remove the device from printers and scanners applet using the minus key (-).  Restart your Mac.  Run the setup utility and do not connect your printer until prompted to do so by the installer.

Thanks Derrick, I tried Canon USA. They wanted me to input the serial number and was told it was invalid. Looks like they have nothing to do with Japan purchased products, which is kind of strange as they are a Japanese company.

Thanks Rick, I'll give it a try and come back here with the results.

Apologies for being AWOL, my wife broke her arm last Tuesday and haven't worked with the printer since. Will get back on it as I need to print a bunch of med reports. Will return here whether I have success or not.

Hi Rick - The Setup Utility is for PCs, so out of luck there. It's also for wireless, which I'm not interested in. Will only be using the printer via USB.

Thanks for the effort.

The link I provided was for Canon Japan.  MAC OS

Hi Rick - yep, but the Canon Laser NW Device Setup Utility pops up a box that says to configure the device using  'Easy Connect via PC'. When I hit OK, nothing happens and I can go no further.
