Did you mean:

imageCLASS MF216n extremely slow

Hello,
I am not computer literate so seeking computer help is typically very difficult for me.

I have a MF216n that I have been running a few years from an XP computer and a Windows 10 laptop.  I recently got rid of the XP computer and now have a Windows 11 computer.  When I print from the new Windows 11 computer it takes about 10 minutes for a 1 or 2 page document to be printed.

I can't figure out why the new Windows 11 computer is so slow.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I called the help center but they said they don't offer help on this printer anymore.

Thanks in advance,
BWSwede

Two interrelated questions:

1. Do you know what kind of CPU (processor) the Windows 11 computer has? Intel, AMD, ARM? Many new machines have ARMs, which is problematic for Canon printers.

1. Did you install (or try to) the driver on Canon's support site, here:

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/imageclass-mf216n

What happened?

Canon has not done any drivers that are ARM-compatible. If your Win11 computer has an ARM processor, the driver would probably not have installed, and Windows would be using its built-in driver, which would not be as functional as you expect.

Thank you for your reply.  This is the computer I have:

Dell Precision Tower 5820 Workstation W-2123 4C 3.6Ghz 64GB 1TB NVMe P2000 Win 11

The literature states it has a Intel Xeon processor.

I tried installing drivers and I thought I got them installed but I'll try again.

Thanks again,
BWSwede

I used the link you gave and it looks familiar (as in I already did that).  I kept going and got a message that states "The following printer is already using the specified port. Do you want to add a new printer anyway?  Canon MF210 Series (1 )"

Should I say yes to that question?

Thank you.

Well, at least you don't have an ARM processor. You have quite a computer. How does someone who is not computer literate come by such a machine? The Xeon, though being Intel architecture, may not be fully getting along with the software.

What I suggest is that you completely uninstall/delete whatever has been installed for the printer in Devices and Printers and in Programs and Features, both are in Control Panel. The restart the computer, and do the software install all over again. Deleting the printer should remove the existing network port.

I just bought a computer from Amazon that I thought might work for me.  I really didn't know how good or bad it was.

I'll give your suggestion a try.

Thank you very much.

That was a terrible way to buy a computer. Should have had someone knowledgeable help you in your search. You overbought, unless you are an engineer,  heavy computer graphics person, really heavy photo/video editing, etc.

If you can't get the printer setup with WiFi, you need to ask Canon for help, and search for info online.
