Windows 10 Scan ImageRunner C1030

I can print to a usb port or a static IP port to the iR C1030.

I can't seem to get the scanning to work from "Scan to file server", or using the Windows 10 apps to scan.

I'm guessing I have a permissions issue on "scan to file server" (windows 10 share). The "scan to file server" setup on the C1030 includes the \\machinename\sharename and a username and password, but it doesn't seem to work.  The settings are persisted, and I can go in from the panel on the C1030, or using the web interface.  I can setup a network drive on a different computer and copy a file to where I want to scan documents with no problem.

Above was how I first attempted to scan from the C1030 to the computer.  When I failed at this, I tried the other direction below.

I installed the "Color Network Scangear 2" tool.  The "Test Connection" buttom works and reports "The selected scanner is available for use".  This is to a static IP address on the C1030, which I can ping to from the workstation.

The Windows 10 Scan app appears that it will work, and shows "Color Network Scangear 2" as selected,  but when the Scan button is clicked it errors with "Problem Scanning, Something went wrong. Please try again."

The Windows 10, "Windows Fax and Scan" app shows "Color Network Scangear 2" in the title, and the appears that it should work, but it also errors when the Scan button is clicked with "Scanner is offline.  Make sure that the scanner is online, and then click [Retry] to start scanning."

Regardless if the C1030 is offline or online, Retry comes back with the same dialog and does not work.

Any help would be appreciated.

As a followup, there is a Remote Scan setting that allows the PC to communicate to the C1030.  Remote Scan was turned off in the C1030 settings. After changing the setting to On, I had a couple of "Windows Fax and Scan" successes.  I'm not there yet with a solid solution though.
