Unable to Scan to Computer - imageClass MF735Cdw

mide

I have a user who is unable to scan to computer.  Message is Connect the Computer.  It worked before.  Printer was recently moved to different VLAN.  Now unable to scan to computer.

Can ping and print from the computer with no issues but unable to scan to computer from printer.  Called support and they said they do not support different vlans.  Which is stupid in my opinion since this is a business class printer.

So question to the group.  A) is this possible and B) how to configure.

Hi mide,

Welcome to our Canon Forum!

In order for the Color imageCLASS MF735Cdw to scan to a computer from the printer's operation panel, the printer and computer must be on the same segment of the network (or on the same VLAN) and you must register the machine with the computer in advance.

I have a Windows 11 computer and both the printer/scanner and the computer are on the same network. I can print to the printer but whenever I try the scanner mode, it gives an error "Cannot communicate with the scanner. The cable may be disconnected, or the scanner may be turned off. Check the scanner status and try again. Scanner driver will be terminated"

The scanner is on and functioning. In the Scanner selector utility on the computer, I can see the scanner. However, there is something wrong when the scanner utility or any app using the scanner tries to connect.
