I am replying to Rick, but including a response to Danny as well.

I’m connecting via WiFi.

I have three computers with Windows OS on them. Two with Windows 7, the other with Windows 10.

The issue is the “WiFi” symbol on the printer will show a red X on it when the printer is “Offline”, and ALL my devices (including cell phones) indicate my printer is “Offline”. Therefore: I don’t believe it has anything to do with the computer OS, but rather the printer or the wireless network. That’s why I’m asking the question on this forum.

Hi a-evens,

It would appear that your printer is not conected to your wireless network. To connect your MAXIFY MB5120 to your wireless network, please follow these steps:

 1.  Press the HOME button on your MAXIFY MB5120.

 2.  Swipe the screen and select Setup (the wrench and scrwedriver icon).

 3.  Select Device Settings.

 4.  Select LAN settings.

 5.  Select Wireless LAN setup.

 6.  Choose Standard setup.

 7.  Choose your wireless network from the list that appears.

 8.  Tap the screen to enable the keyboard and enter your wireless password.

 9.  Tap OK.

10.  Tap OK on the Connected message.

Your MAXIFY MB5120 will now be connected to your wireless network.

Once connected, please attempt to print.  If you are still unable to print, you may have to reinstall the driver.

To reinstall, please follow these steps:

 1.  Press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter R, then let both go.

 2.  In the Run window, please type CONTROL PANEL and click OK.

 3.  Click on View devices and printers (or Devices and printers, depending on your view).

 4.  Right click the Canon MB5100 series and left click on Remove device.  Repeat until all MB5100's are removed.

 5.  In the upper left corner, click on Control Panel (or the Back button).

 6.  In Control Panel, click on Uninstall a program (or Programs and features, depending on your view).

 7.  Click once on "Canon MB5100 series MP Drivers" and then click Uninstall at the top.

 8.  Follow the on screen prompts to uninstall the driver.  When you click Complete,  the driver is uninstalled.

 9.  Once done, please reboot your computer.

When your computer restarts, we will reinstall:

 1.  Please use the following link:

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/small-office-home-office-...

 2.  Click the Select button next to "MB5100 series MP Drivers Ver.1.02 (Windows)".

 3.  Click the Download button.  The drivers will download.

 4.  Once the download is complete, open your downloads folder.  To access this, press CTRL and J, then let both go.

 5.  Double click "m68n-win-mb5100-1_02-ea34_2.exe" to begin the installation.

 6.  Follow the on screen prompts to reinstall.

Once the installation has completed, please attempt to print.

Patrick,

Thanks for the advice, and sorry for taking so long to reply.

Just a FYI, while I'm no "Tech Genius", I'm also far from being a "technotard". I do know a little about computers and peripherals. I already did all this "out of the box" when I first got this printer. I did it again "just in case", but I'm not holding my breath on it working.

The issue seems to be, when the printer goes to sleep, it goea into an "Offline" status, even after its been woke-up. It also shows up in "Devices and Printers" grayed out. I must reboot (power cycle) the printer to get it to come back "Online".
