Pixma mx 870 is damaging the paper

I am using glossy transparent decal paper with the rear feeder and the printer is marring the paper. It is especially bad when I use high-quality print. Is there any adjustment possible or is this printer (less than one month old) defective?

Hello dogbrain. 

Unfortunately, transparency media is not supported with the MX870.  This paper is not porous enough to soak in ink when printing.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
