I have a Mac Book Pro. Word and Excel files print fine but PDFs either dont print or take forever. I updated the firmware. Ive also tried using both preview and adobe.

This is actually going to be difficult to troubleshoot. A PDF is a complex format that can simply hold a bitmap (rasterized image) to having tens-of-thousands (or more) separate drawing instructions. Thus, the size of the PDF won't be enough to know why it's taking a long time.
What software created the PDF? How many pages is it?

Update on this. PDFs print as long as they are a small file like 50k but if its 500k it will take 10-20 minutes to print one page. Is there a way fix this?

Further update....sorry, its not letting me edit posts. Anyway, I can print a 2.1mb word file no problem.
