Maxify MB 2720 won't feed multiple pages from top scanner

Maxify MB 2720 won't feed multiple pages from top scanner input tray. (I have to put each page individually on the scanner. Drag.) 

I updated drivers just now.

Device is three years old. 

This has been going on for a month or so. Device not abused. 

What to do?

if I can't figure it out, I'll replace device when I run out of ink. 

Totally unacceptable and not worth 19.99 US dollars for support.
