Every single time when I print something, I have to press the highlightest tray 1 for it to print. I changed the settings to default printing from tray 1 but it didn't work. What setting can I change to skip choosing the paper type? it's a bit annoying

Spoke with support, Typically the issue is installing the software when the machine is already connected via USB
Best to uninstall ALL canon software, disconnect the usb, install the software, then reconnnect. Worked for me!

I also talked to tech support but it didn’t help. I actually figured out by myself. It turns out that it’s the wrong paper size was chosen in the printing preference, I had A4 in the preference. Even though when I was printing, in the word document I chose the letter type, word was still sending the A4 to the printer while the default paper type was letter. After I changed the printing preference on my computer, no more prompts from the printer.

For me, I had to change the paper settings to LTR/Plain 1 instead of 2

On my Canon MF455dw, I was having the same issue when printing from my PC. Strangely though, didn't have this issue when printing something from my phone. Anyhow, I tried several things and none worked. Finally played around with some of the settings and found a fix.
1. Opened the printer settings via web browser, logging in as System Mgr role.
2. Went to Settings/Registration button on right side, then went to Printer Settings then Custom Settings, then edit the Custom Settings.
3. In top section, for Multipurpose and Drawer 1 settings, in dropdown menu, changed from Display Error to Force Output, on both.
4. Saved the settings then restarted the printer. That fixed the issue for me. Hope this helps.
