MF642Cdw prints light. Firmware will not update.

Prior to changing the empty genuine toner cartridges to new genuine toner cartridges, the print quality was fine.  However, now, the print quality has changed and it will not print darker.  It copies fine. For example, if a copy from the feeder or the glass, the copy will come out dark/normal.  However, printing from my Macs, it continues to print light.  

I have tried the following:
-Reset/restart printer
-Reseating the toner cartridges and gently shaking them to make sure the toner is evenly distributed.
-Cleaning the fixing assembly and the ITB using the steps in the link HERE.
-gradation adjustment from the operation panel on the printer.

other issues I have include:
-firmware will not update from internet or computer
-scan to computer does not work.  It worked fine in December 2023 and now it will not scan anything.

Hello lallen,

If the copies from the feeder and glass are fine, the hardware should be working. In this situation, you can try downloading the latest version of the driver from our site using the link HERE. The UFR printer driver will be at the top of the list and should have recommended written above it. Once the driver has been installed, you can go into printers and scanner on your Mac and delete any old connections for the printer. After the connections have been deleted from printers and scanners, you can click the option to add a printer at the bottom of the printer list.
