Since its brand new. I'd check the ADF for a piece of shipping or packing material. If I didn't find anything I'd exchange it with the retailer.

OK i pick up platetop lid, and cleaned as stated earlier, there is an inch wide plastic piece (I assume it helps hold center of paper flat?) I gently lifted and wiped under with tissue and warm water. I assume there is nothing else I can do?

what is the warrentee and how do I exchange unit printer is needed daily as currently working at home so its working fine other then feeder on scanner.
