MF6160dw Will not copy

Hello,  Printer is new, worked good after initial install. Then suddenly will not copy or scan. It still prints just fine. I reloaded new firmware with no change. Just shoots out a blank page. Scanning light looks dull, not bright during scan?

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know if you're initiating the scan from the printer itself or from your computer.  If you've tried both, please let us know which application you're scanning with and if there's any difference the results between either method.  That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

Hello;

 Printing over a network works fine. Documents printed from multiple programs have no problems.

 Copying from the top glass manually to print out fails. After scanning the printer simply kicks out a blank page. Scanning a document also fails which makes me believe it might be some sort of scanner problem? If it is failing to digitize the document it has nothing to print out. Is there a repalcable light source? It does seem like the light emitted from the scanner is much less than usual? 

  Internally generted doucments (Ie;Test Pages) Also print out fine.

From your description of the symptoms, it sounds like the scanning unit (used for scanning, copying, and faxing) is no longer functioning.  This could be from the part itself, a loose connection, or an electronic issue.  If you wish to find a Canon Authorized Service Facility, our support is available 10 am to 6:30 pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), at 1-800-652-2666.
