MB272 Scanner won't connect, prints fine

MB2720 with iMac running 10.11.6 with firmware 3.040 and Canon IJ Scan Utility2 vers 2.3.5.  Prints fine through WiFi or LAN ethernet cable.  Neither connection works consistently for scanning.  Reloaded the software following initial setup last night and it worked great scanning multiple times.  This am not working again, though nothing different except the date.  Have deleted and reloaded printer/scanner in System Preferences, rebooted computer and printer - these things work sometimes but not lately.  Now scanner does not show up in System Preferences, only Printer.  Really frustrating!

Hello.

 

Make sure that the latest drivers and IJ Scan Utility Lite are installed.  The IJ Scan Utility is the program that controls the scanner.  Visit www.usa.canon.com to download these items.
