I've had this printer since January. I was printing yesterday and it just died. It won't turn back on. there was no error message or beeping, nothing. Just died. I unplugged it, pressed and held the power button and nothing happened. I can't find this issue in the manual. any help is greatly appreciated. Especially since the hold time for cannon is "greater than 40 minutes".

Greetings,
Unplugging and reconnecting the device to a known good power source are the correct steps.
Sounds like the printer has suffered some type of catastrophic failure. Power supply, mainboad, etc. Not much you can do it it won't turn on.
