@goblu313,
The first time you access the Remote UI, you are prompted to set a security PIN or System Manager ID & PIN. If this is the first time, you'll need to select one of these options and set the PIN or ID.
The (Default ID and PIN is7654321)
If you have set but forgotten the PIN or ID, you will need to contact Canon Support.

When I get that error message there is no link for me to enter a PIN. When I look at the Remote UI Settings on the unit it is turned on.

Are you able to click on [Remote UI Access PIN]
If not, then one has likely been set. If the default I provided above doesn't work, you will need to contact Canon Support.

It's really complicated. You have to secure things to access them. And the menus must have changed, because not much on these forums makes sense.
Go to user management somewhere (maybe Menu and click around). Set admin ID and PIN to e.g. 1234 for both, Maybe turn on/off again - not sure necessary.
Make sure you do NOT RELOAD the error page or you will keep seeing the error page. Instead ... make sure you go to the URL http://x.y.z.a/ so you enter again. I bet a lot of users get stuck here. The page is static - so reloading it will show an error even IF you have fixed the underlying problem.

For the love of all that is sensible, please add an "Insecure Mode" to the initial setup. 90% of home users don't give a hoot about securing their printer from the rest of the household. Probably 50%+ of SMBs as well. What a complicated OOB experience you have created here for whom? Reuse of code for engineers?
